radiowy.se – a web-based platform for radio plays and text-based sound art – has invited Claes Neuefeind and Daniel Beskos from the German publication studio Mairisch Verlag, to hold a presentation and discussion about German independent radio play and radio theater. The radio play in Germany has a long and interesting history, that started as early as under the Weimar Republic, saw a veritable revolution in the 60s, and that now, aside from sections for radio plays on almost all public radio channels, also hold a lively scene for independent radio play producers.
Hamburger-based Mairisch Verlag has, except from their role as one of the most interesting contemporary publishers of young German writers, also published numerous radio plays, among them the two anthologies pressplay and pressplay2, both with Claes Neuefeind as editor. At KRETS, Neuefeind and Beskos will present, play examples from and discuss the anthologies as well as other Mairisch publications – and German independent radio plays in general.
The presentation will be held in English.
