With his book Vid närmare undersökning visar sig bilden vara ett namn, Pär Thörn continues the work he started with his previous book, Alla platser där du inte läser detta (released by Rönnells antikvariat). Here, he gathers a collection of one-liners with meta-references to reading, writing, technology and literature. The result lands somewhere between wittiness, language philosophy and new concrete and non-referring words.
Pär Thörn is a writer, musician and conceptual artist. He debuted in 2002 with Kändisar som jag har dela ut post till and his most recent book was Vad innebär det att föreslå någonting (Låsningar) on Pequod Press. Over the years, Thörn has released several books and performed both in Sweden and abroad. He currently lives in Berlin, where he eats börek, writes satanic black metal texts, considers books to be time containers, spells his way through the complete works of Gerhard Rühm and listens to sinus tones.

Time: 19.00
Free admissionChicagojazzen is multi-instrumentalist Erik Karlsson from Skellefteå. The musical expression is not easy to describe. Often, it is collage-like, alarming and expressive pop music, where sad guitar layers meet crooked, broken and distorted sounds.
Molnbär av John is John Henriksson, a musician and illustrator who also runs the record label Tona Serenad. He recently released an album with Momus and is part of the duo DZR:P. Equipped with record players and a loop pedal, he makes fragmented and beautiful songs with roots in library music and blue-toned jazz ballads.

Time: 18-22
Free admissionOn her way home from Poland, MAG returns for a longed-for visit at KRETS. With her this time, she brought Akes Rets, also member of bands such as Skull Defekts and DBHG. Christian Pallin (Koloni) will play records and KRETS will host the event together with SINGSANG.
MAG is a solo project signed Magdalena Ågren, a former member of Surplus People. She works with live samplings, using trombone, megaphone, guitar and various sounds. Twisted pop tunes are built from scratch to form a dystopian lo-fi cacophony.
Akes Rets has played in bands like Repoman, Dead Vows, Skull Defekts, Irni, Seven Feet Four, DBHG and the Colour Black. With a guitar, a record player, his voice and a fist full of effect pedals, he creates slow drone with furious shouts and lyrics about misery, loneliness and darkness. To amplify these themes he will screen a collection of his films.

Time: 12-16
Free admissionCome and make kites! Decorate them with playful characters and colorful shapes and let them fly by the sea. The first weekend of August, illustrator and artist Daniel Frost will visit KRETS to hold a kite-making workshop for both kids and adults. Frost is usually based in London, where he recently graduated from Royal College of Art. With inspiration from the magical, weird and wonderful world, he often creates characters in playful situations – sometimes in the shape of kites.
Frost’s own kites will be on display during the workshop. The following day, we will arrange a collective flight with the kites down by the sea. For this we will gather at KRETS at 12.00 (on Sunday).
Due to limited seats we recommend you to sign up as soon as possible. To do so, email your name to krets@krets.info. If you have registered and suddenly realize that you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP so we can offer the seat to someone else.

Live: Testbild! x 2 & Death And Vanilla
Time: 16-00
Free admissionTestbild! release their sixth album, Barrikad on Kalligrammofon. Testbild! have made themselves known as a secretive group with an expression that mixes melodic and cinematic pop music with influences from 60s jazz music and avant-garde sound experiments. On Barrikad they explore new paths, by limiting themselves to an almost exclusively acoustic soundscape and for the first time they also sing in Swedish. It is all about refined chamber pop music, circulating around guitars, horns, harpsichord and a church organ.
Death And Vanilla is a Malmö-based pop group whose gothic-flavored and slightly hypnotic expression draws inspiration from the psychedelic pop music of the 60s, analog electronic pioneer work and more and less marginalized film music. Death And Vanilla released a self-titled limited edition EP in 2010. They are also founders of the impeccable MP3 blog Dunwich Radio.
Schedule:
17.00 Testbild! (matinee)
20.00 Death And Vanilla
21.00 Testbild!Thanks to Folkuniversitetet.

Free admissionThis Friday KRETS invites you to a release party for Eva Björkstrand’s new comic- and drawing book Lokal Dimma, published by Kolik Förlag. In Lokal Dimma we get to meet dogs with artistic ambitions, an arrogant pig, helpful field mice that offer you raisins, and squirrels that have a party in a pine tree. But far from everyone with fur and tail is sweet. The animals arm themselves, and equipped with weapons and chainsaws they start to attack each other. Who can you really trust? The local mist rolls in and the plot thickens. Reach out a hand and find a paw in yours.
Eva Björkstrand is an artist and illustrator. She is based in Malmö and educated at Valand Academy in Gothenburg and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi) in Copenhagen. In her work, she explores autobiographical storytelling, with surreal or absurd elements. As the main character in her imagery, we often find her alter ego, while the other characters are often animals with human attributes. Threat, hope and escapism with a hint of humor are often central themes. Her debut book Kioskvältaren was released 2006 by Kartago Förlag.
